Determined to make the most out of our remaining time with Terry, Michelle, Gabe & Lucas before they go back to Japan for the rest of the year, we decided to go glamping at The Canopi in Bintan as a family. (*Axl’s third overseas trip!)

It was the perfect destination for a short getaway as the travel was breezy with just a ferry ride away and not forgetting the minimal luggage. With the beautiful skies, generous dose of sunshine and huge crystal lagoon pool, you cannot help but feel relaxed!

On the first day after lunch, we spent the afternoon building sandcastles and chilling by the pool side under the shade to avoid getting a heatstroke. But once it started getting cooler, we went into the waters for some SWIM TIME which the kids loved!! This time, Axl enjoyed himself more, splashing & kicking around lots.

For dinner, we ventured out to The Kelong Seafood Restaurant which was a short drive away. If I’m correct, there’s another Kelong you can go to for seafood too but that’ll require you to take a boat ride over. Not knowing how far and what kinda boat, we decided to take this safer option in view of the bunch of kids. The food  (loved the lemon chicken, salted fish brinjal and sambal lala) and the view was nice, though i think it would probably have been cheaper at the other kelong.

We ended the night gathered in Rachel’s glam tent with GAME NIGHT – playing rounds of Undercover and sharing a good laugh!

Day 2 started with a hearty breakfast at their one & only in house Bora Bora Cafe Bar. Do not expect a wide spread like an international buffet breakfast. Though I was satisfied with their simple array of hot food (mee hoon, sausage, hash brown, tomatoes, etc), cereals, juices, bread and most importantly their Egg Station!

With only until evening(our return ferry at 5+pm) and so much to do, we wasted no time getting on with the program. The Canopi has a wide range of Land (Segways, Mini-ATVs, Bicycles, Ford Model T Ride, UTC & ATV Rides) and Water (Cable Ski, Floating Water Park, Jetovator, Sailboats & Kayaks, Water Bum Boat, Stand Up Paddle, Underwater Scooter, Boat Ride, Island Hopping) Sports Activities. We decided for some Land rides like the Mini ATV and Segway(*It was grandma’s first time on the Segway and she was a total pro at it!). Due to the low season we were in, we were also given free old Ford Buggy rides!

After a fun time of rides, it was back to the waters again. This time, we lazed around in their super huge Lazy Float… I know of some resorts where they charge for the use of the floats, but the resort were nice to give these complimentary!

All in all, we are really thankful for this fun experience and am certain we will look back fondly the memories we made together as a family on this trip!

“The trip may have ended… But the memories made lasts forever!”
