It’s CNY Day 1! But like many families, preparations for CNY started way earlier, a few weeks back. Yup, we started attacking those yummy goodies like bakkwa, oranges (yup, these can be eaten and not just passed from hand to hand!) and of course yummy cookies from Baking Gospel!! Late last year, Mom launched her home baking company and simply with word of mouth from her circle of family and friends, she had received so many orders we had to stop taking in requests more than 1 week before CNY!

But we managed to convince her to continue taking orders for them even after CNY ends. Why not right? AND SHE HAS AGREED! So yay for us!! So now Baking Gospel will have these cookies in the mix on top of the all time favourite Pineapple & Blueberry Streusel Cakes!

Here’s a feature of her famous Cornflake and Peanut cookies:

CORNFLAKE COOKIES! CORNFLAKE COOKIES! PEANUT COOKIES! PEANUT COOKIES!

Sorry for the side track… As I was saying, CNY preps started way earlier! From cleaning the house (great excuse to declutter and reorganize when spring cleaning!), putting up decors, to shamelessly demanding for red packets packs everytime i made a purchase (ikr so aunty!!), to stressing over whether Lil X will wear that cute cheena outfit(still hard to dress him nowadays), there was much hustle and bustle!

When it came to that CNY Day 1 morning, we woke early, got dressed (thankfully without much fuss) and made the boy Gong Xi Gong Xi to his Mama & Papa before handing him his red packet from us! He had his own fun in the midst of that as he thought that the oranges made great balls to throw around.

After some photos, we hurry over to one of Ken’s relative’s place where the whole tribe gathers at! Usually we are one of the first to arrive as my Mom In Law, a great cook, has to bring lunch over to feed the family with her delicious home cooked dishes (this year Popiah or Beehoon with Sambal Shrimps). We spent the day catching up with one another and Axl had fun playing with his ‘relative friends’ and the pets (mainly dogs & birds).

This year, the generous host brought back a Lucky Draw from Taiwan and lucky we were! My mom in law drew the second prize and I drew the first… which of course generated much friendly protests among the relatives! Haha!

HAHA... MY MIL SO HAPPY!! HAHA… MY MIL SO HAPPY!! WITH THE GENEROUS HOST... ONE OF THE NICEST GUYS AROUND! WITH THE GENEROUS HOST… ONE OF THE NICEST GUYS AROUND!

Axl also collected a lot of red packets and he loved the sensation of opening the flaps! Cue embarrassing situations where he kept opening them in front of people… We had to repeatedly tell him it’s rude to do that! I somehow thought this stage would come abit later in age. At 1.5yrs, this cutie is proving to be quite a handful! Still love you to bits though 😅 *faintz*! Haha

As much fun as we had, we needed to leave by evening time as this year for our Yap Family Reunion dinner! We kept this year simple since most of us had to rush from our in laws place. Lil X prolly had the most fun raiding Wayne Kor Kor & Amanda Jie Jie’s toys galore!

P/S: We barely took any pics…here are the few of the night!
